It is with profound sadness the family of Bud Best announces his peaceful passing at St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital in Edmonton, AB at the age of 89 years.
Bud was born in Toronto, ON to Freida and Charles Best. After serving in the RCAF, he met and married Rita in 1950. Bud and Rita had 2 children together: daughter Marilyn (husband Brian) Dunlop of Elora, ON and son Michael (wife Michelle) Best of Sherwood Park, AB, with grandchildren Amy Dunlop of Elora, ON and Diane Dunlop of Mississauga, ON. Raising his family in Echo Bay, ON, Bud had a long career with Bell Canada. Rita passed away in 1989 and Bud remarried in 2002 to Ruth Chiasson of Sault Ste. Marie, ON. His family grew with 3 stepchildren, their 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Bud’s ashes will be interred at Greenwood Cemetery, Sault St. Marie, ON.
The family wishes to thank the staff of both the Dr. Gerald Zetter Care Centre and the St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital for the compassionate care provided to Bud during his last three years.
