Left to grieve his loss and love him forever are his wife Tanis; children: Scott, Tara (Dexter), Bryce (Stephanie) and Calene; grandchildren: Zach, Aiden, Seth, Jude, Ashton and Brynne; siblings: Warren, Brad (Anne), Darryl and Pam (Brad); mother-in-law, Elsie McDonald; brother in laws: Mike, Darwin (Lisa); sister in law, Lillian; nieces and nephews: Ashley, Emily, Whitney, Macey, Colton and Hunter as well as extended family and many friends.
Greg was predeceased by his parents: Roy (2023) and Kay (2005).
Greg spent his working career in the grocery industry starting as a bag boy on the Woodwards Food Floor until his recent retirement from Foothills Creamery. Greg volunteered at various places such as Special Olympics, the Stollery Children's Stollery, the Reform Party, the Progressive Conservative Party, Heart and Stroke, Edmonton Firefighters Piping & Drumming, and the Sturgeon Community Hospital. He was an avid sports fan watching every Oilers and Elks game. He was fortunate to cross off 14 baseball stadiums from his bucket list of seeing a baseball game in every stadium in North America. Greg was a fond lover of animals and will be reuniting with his beloved dog Tucker. A master of trivia, he knew facts and figures on a variety of topics.
Greg was often found puttering around in the yard, trimming the edges with his wife’s good scissors. It will be a hard task to keep up with his straight lines when mowing the lawn. He chatted with everyone who walked by.
Memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Edmonton Humane Society.
A Celebration of Life for Gregory will be held Monday, December 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Memories Funeral Home, 13403 St Albert Trail, Edmonton, AB T5L4X1.
