My husband and I enjoyed living next door to your parents for the last four years. Though we didn't get to know your Mom well, the love that your Dad had for her came through in everything he said or did. They we the best neighbours we could have asked for, and we were so sad to hear they were moving. I talked to Ivan on the phone on Thanksgiving, and was so sorry to hear of Elsie's passing. Having Ivan next door was like having your best friends' dad there - a wonderful man who gave good advice, was always willing to lend a hand, and was a joy to be around. 
We are heartbroken for you, but hope that you can find some comfort in knowing that your parents are together again.

Al and Mitch, I just become aware of the recent passing of both your Mom and Dad.  I know that you must be absolutely devastated.  It is so unfair that you have had to deal with losing both parents in such short succession.  I will always remenber them as passionate and loving parents. The news of this was so shocking. We have nothing but compassion for the difficult three weeks you have had to endure and send our love to you all. We are truly heartbroken.
This seems quite surreal and the grief you must be feeling is hard to imagine. Ivan, I can't process that we just embraced and shared some stories and now you are gone. But I am finding some comfort in knowing that as hard as it was to lose your one true love, that you are together with her once again and will not be alone. That was the hardest for me - to see you alone without Elsie. And so it is.
Without question, you will be missed by so many people... but the love and light you and Elsie shared will shine down on your family and bring them comfort during what will be such a difficult time. 
May the memories of the love you all shared as a family bring you comfort during this time of great sorrow.
