Jackie is lovingly survived by her sons, Ken Rawson (Karen) and Kerry Rawson (Brandi); her grandchildren Randy Rawson (Haley), Gena Rawson (Dylan), David Rawson, and Emily Rawson (Greg); and her cherished great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Ivy Rawson. She is also survived by numerous Cousins in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. Jackie was predeceased by her beloved husband, George Rawson, her son, Randy Rawson, brother Jim Denney and her parents David and Muriel Denney.
Jackie was born on June 24th, 1941, in Barrie, Ontario. She graduated from High School in 1960 from Barrie Collegiate Institute, after which she met the love of her life Flight Officer George Rawson. They were married November 5, 1960, and began their military life together with a growing family. Transfers to Quebec, New Brunswick, Manitoba and British Columbia took her across Canada multiple times with the final move to Edmonton in 1987 where she resided until her death.
She will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the strength she carried throughout her life, and the comfort she brought to those lucky enough to know her. Her interests were always with family, but she managed through the years to Curl, Bowl, Square Dance, sing in the Church and Seniors choirs, and took up playing the organ and clogging in her later years. Jackie loved her pet Pomeranian Dogs, cats and cared for and worried over a collection of antique vehicles. Many trips with George were taken over the years to visit family and friends. She continued her love of travel after George’s death with trips to Hawaii, Spain and the United States accompanying her Children and Grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on March 28th at 1:00 p.m. at Ottewell United Church in Edmonton, Alberta (6611 93a Ave NW). Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Jackie’s life, share memories, and honor the legacy of love she leaves behind.
Following the service, a light lunch and refreshments will be served as we gather to remember Jackie and celebrate her life.
Jackie will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of her family.
