July 2, 1933 to April 23, 2012
With tremendous love and sadness, we say “cheerio-the-noo” to Wife, Mom and Nana, Jessie who peacefully slipped away on Monday, April 23 at the age of 78 years. Jessie leaves behind to celebrate her love and life: her adoring and adored husband of 55 years, Jim (aka Samuel), daughters Pat (Allan Brown), Chris (Mike Bolch) and Jen (Glenn Chomin) and her beloved grandchildren Dylan, Lauren, Kyra, Emma, Jared and Nicholas. She is survived by her siblings Margaret Bennett, Fred Cox, Audrey (Bob Johnston), Ruth Porter and Evelyn (Brian Sutton) and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. Jessie was predeceased by her dad Fred and her mom Edith.
Jessie was a vivacious, outgoing lady whose family and friends were the cornerstones of her life. She was a proud member of the Edmonton Girls’ Pipe Band for 43 years, a past president of the Shrine Ladies Auxiliary and a member of Al Almira Temple Daughters of the Nile. Her life was an example of honest toil, integrity, laughter and most of all love. We know you’re dancing again Mom. We’ll tak’a cup o’ kindness yet, for Auld Lang Syne.
Special thanks from the family to Mom’s caregiver for the last four years, Shirley Gurtiza and Dr. Douglas McCarty for being there, no matter what.
Memorial donations may be made to the Al Shamal Shriners Patient Transportation Fund, c/o Al Shamal Shrine Centre, 14511 - 142 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta T6V 1H9.
Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will occur later in the spring. A Celebration of Jessie’s life will be held on Friday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Hainstock’s Funeral Home, 9810 - 34 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta.
