Kerry’s father Ted, and my father Ken were brothers who grew up in Edmonton. Kerry, Dan, Ted and Toots looked after us when my Mom Lorna brought me and my brothers Howard, Bruce and Trevor to Edmonton in 1969, and we loved them. Over the next 17 years Kerry kidded with me, later invited me to parties, and joined me and my friends on weekends. Kerry was smart and serious but also full of fun and adventure. We had good times skiing in the Rockies.
Many years later, living provinces apart, our kids grown up, we reconnected. Kerry, Jeanette, Johnny and I spent a great evening at The Blue Chair talking about our travel adventures and sharing stories. We found we had a lot in common! We had other happy visits in recent years with Kerry, Jeanette, Dan and Brenda on our trips to Edmonton. I was so impressed with Kerry’s journey to becoming an artist... it’s amazing what he accomplished. I’m sorry that the planned trip to visit us in Nova Scotia never happened. We ran out of time, Kerry. We will miss you. Johnny and I are sorry for Kerry’s loss and send our heartfelt condolences to Jeanette, Lauren, Dan, Brenda and their families.

Jeannette and Lauren and Family … my most sincere condolences on the tragic loss of Kerry. We met in 1979 and we worked together for many happy years. I will always remember Kerry for his kindness, his professionalism, and his undying efforts to help people.  I am blessed to have known him and call him my friend.  May your treasured memories of him carry you through the weeks and months and years ahead🩷

Kerry was a class in law school.  I saw him often in the courthouse and at bar events.  He was wonderful to talk to.  He was also a member of some CBA groups I chaired and always was a contributor.  
I am now on the verge of retirment so have not seen him in a while.  I was shocked to see his obituary.

There's nothing I can say to you at this time that wouldn't sound like the things everyone else has already said.

As a fellow widow - not a club I ever wanted to belong to - all I can say is you have my deepest empathy. It doesn't really get better - it just gets to be different. 

You and Kerry had a wonderful life together I know. You have a beautiful daughter and a couple of grandbabies which Kerry got to see and be with. Be grateful for that. Try not to dwell too much on what he will miss and be happy for the time he did have.

I knew Kerry Hart, from when I was a criminal defence lawyer. Even though we were adversaries, I had the greatest of respect and admiration for Kerry.  He was always very kind, cordial and extremely ethical. Kerry truly cared about people and exercised his duties as a crown prosecutor with the greatest of integrity. He was also extremely personable, friendly and was certainly a person I had the greatest of respect for.  I am deeply saddened by his passing and offer my condolences to his family.

I worked with Kerry as a Crown Prosecutor and enjoyed visits with Jeanette and Kerry since we both retired.

Kerry always had friendly, practical advice and compassion towards those with whom he interacted. 

Recently Kerry and Jeanette regaled us with stories about their fall’24 trip to Europe. Actually they had a lot of other great adventures too. It was always inspiring to see the love and dedication that Kerry and Jeanette showed for each other and their family as a whole. And they have been so delighted to be grandparents.

Kerry leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and competence.  So many of us have been lucky to call him a friend.

I had the privilege of working with Kerry.  His good humour and his humility informed his work on a daily basis.  He approached his prosecutions with compassion and care.  He led his staff with quiet and steady support.  I never knew Kerry to complain or to be too important or too busy.  Drama never intruded into his mindset.  Kerry would often speak of his family, and his love for Jeannette and Lauren was obvious and heartwarming.  Kerry always knew what mattered most in life.  I learned a great deal from Kerry over the years.  I will miss him.  Sincere condolences to his family.

I count myself fortunate to have known Kerry during his time as a Crown Prosecutor and after he retired.  He was always extremely supportive of me when I was beginning my career as a Prosecutor and during his time at the office and after.   I will miss him very much.

I worked with Kerry at the Crown's office. He was the man that knew everyone's names and always said good morning to you with a big friendly smile. He would tell you stories to make you laugh and was always there to lend an ear.  He will be truly missed. My deepest condolences.

It feels like I have known Kerry most of my adult life.  Originally, he was the very friendly and professional lawyer, often representing a person accused of an offence;  and for the last many years, until we both retired, Kerry was my very friendly and most competent colleague on the prosecution side.  I feel very blessed to have known Kerry all these years. He had a great smile and a gentle manner.  He loved his family and was very proud of them.  Kerry will be greatly missed.

I had the privilege of working with Kerry as defence counsel and a fellow Crown Prosecutor. He could always be trusted to act with integrity and fairness. We continued to see each other after our respective retirements for some laughs and a brew or 2. I feel fortunate to have known Kerry.   He will be missed.

I will always remember Kerry as the “work dad” to many (myself included) around the Crown’s office.  He would always be telling stories that offered advice or wisdom, and they would usually end with a joke to make you laugh. 

Kerry was an incredible man, and he will be truly missed by many.

We had so much fun together with Kerry especially cycling over the years and our shared passion for skiing, and just being outdoors with friends.  I saw a different side of Kerry when I asked for some legal guidance one day and this professional lawyer emerged out from under his bike helmet; the advice was thoughtful, practical and so helpful.  He put my mind immediately at ease.  I’m sure his years of working with clients helped a great number of people.

He was sharp and witty and interesting too, and had a great sense of humour.  Our bike group will miss him deeply.  We are sending hugs to all of you knowing these are difficult and challenging times.
