Kyle was born in Edmonton on July 9, 1986, to parents Gail and Wayne Dick. He passed away on November 23, 2021. He was raised in Silver Valley, Alberta, a place he dearly loved. Kyle took many naps curled up in dad’s arms while mowing grass or behind the seat in the tractor cab. He also spent many hours as a kid riding on his grampa Dick’s tractor or quad or skidoo. He loved to snuggle up with mom or dad to read a book.
Kyle went to Savanna School until grade 5 and then completed Junior and Senior High in Fort McMurray, where he graduated in 2004. After high school he apprenticed with Hammer Equipment in Edmonton, went to NAIT and became a Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician. He later worked at Syncrude in Fort McMurray and Teck Coal in Sparwood, British Columbia. Not liking shift work he eventually returned to Edmonton where he lived until his passing.
Kyle loved to camp, fish, hunt, and spend time with family. Much time was spent at Slave Lake in the summer and at Grama and Grampa Dick’s farm in the fall.
He had many talents of which several were self-taught. He was an accomplished skier, snowboarder and dirt bike rider although he did have more than his share of wrecks. He loved to write songs, play guitar and was part of a band the last few years. The highlight of their career was a gig at the “Starlite Room” in Edmonton. Unfortunately the pandemic came along and they were never able to perform. He also liked to sketch, do crafts and play with his beloved, quirky cat “Grey”.
He was a compassionate, kind, wise, open, funny and loving individual. He loved to connect with people and build lasting relationships. He had many supportive friends that helped him along the way. As much as he will be missed, we hope that he has found true peace.
Our sensitive, loving child will be sorely missed by parents Wayne and Gail; grandmas Elaine Dick and Marlene Kallis; aunts and uncles Barry (Linda), Laurie (Glen), Greg (Shari), Valerie (Fred), Heather (Dale), and Albert, as well as cousins: Kristen, Stephanie, Travis, Breannne, Landon, Parker, Keiran, Joshua, Nicole, Trina, Wendy, Monica, Ryan, Cody, and Scott. He was predeceased by his grandfathers Harold Dick and Albert Kallis.
