Les was born April 3, 1930, the youngest of four children, on a homestead south of Edmonton to Adolf and Annie Albert.
In 1948, he joined Poole Construction as a labourer, and because of his strong work ethic and dedication, he rose quickly through the ranks to superintendent. He earned a reputation for excellence in construction project management for projects across North America. His career with PCL spanned 53 years, and he is the namesake of an annual award for superintendents.
Les met the love of his life, Reta, at the Central Baptist Church. They were married in 1953, moved to the farm, built a house, and raised four children. In addition to his career with PCL, Les ran a small farming operation. In retirement, Les continued to farm and spend time with family and friends. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and grandfather.
