Malamatenia Papastratis

Malamatenia (Tenia) Papastratis, age 44, of Edmonton, AB, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2020 after her courageous battle with Cancer. She was born in Düsseldorf, Germany on December 5, 1975 to Sherry Carroll and Dimitrios Papastratis.

Tenia is predeceased by her beloved husband, Geoffrey Cook. She is survived by her children; Dimitrios (Kelsey), Jocelyn, William, and Elizabeth, grandchildren; Logan, Claire and Eleanor, parents; Sherry Carroll and Dimitrios (Theresa) Papastratis, siblings; John, Alex, Evie, and Christina, special in laws; Sean and Liz, and numerous nieces, nephews, in laws, and extended family.

Tenia found happiness in the little things in life like good books, and being with her family and the ones she loved. She had a special love for dragonflies, which always seemed to be drawn to her. Oh, and we can’t forget shoes! She always said, “A good pair of shoes aren’t always cheap but they should be cute!”

Once her children were older, she went back to school to get her GED and then went on to complete the Optical Sciences course through NAIT, all while working full time at the Capilano Eye Centre. She received her Diploma and Opticians license in 2019.

There isn’t a person Tenia met that didn’t enjoy having her in their lives. She is and always will be loved and dearly missed by us all.
