Margaret (Marg) Sharples passed away peacefully on July 11, 2024 at HolSome Place long term care facility in Edmonton, Alberta. In following Marg’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on August 31, 2024 at Memories Funeral Home 13403 St Albert Trail NW, Edmonton, Alberta. Her ashes will be stored in an urn and placed in a columbarium in Northern Lights Cemetery. The family will be having a small ceremony at a later date when her ashes will be put to rest.
Marg was born December 02, 1939 in Duval, Saskatchewan. She was the third of four sisters. While attending college in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, she met Glenn Sharples, a classmate, who after a wonderful friendship she married on August 19, 1961. First in her heart always was her husband Glenn who deeply returned this love. Marg was always there for her husband, as well as their two children and three grandchildren; loving, helping, caring deeply and always supporting them. Marg was the “Wind Beneath (Our) Wings.”
Marg was a scholar, an educator, a sister, a wife, a mother and a Nana. She was devoted to her family and also dedicated to her profession. Marg always loved to learn and read. She always strived to improve and encouraged others to do so as well. She was a trusted friend and cared deeply for others. Marg was one that people could confide in, and she accepted friends for who they truly are. She loved music, singing, and dancing with her husband. Marg and Glenn have been patrons of the arts for many years.
Marg was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Lillian Sedgwick, and her sister Joy Taylor. Marg will be fondly remembered by her husband Glenn, her son Harris (Audrey), her daughter Desirae (Shane), and her grandchildren Ella, Francis, and Kala. Marg will be sorely missed by all her family left behind, the many friends she made along the way, and new friends she made at both Shepherd's Care and HolSome Place long term care facilities. She received an abundance of love and compassionate care while a resident there. A special thank-you to the third floor community at HolSome for the supportive family atmosphere.
A Celebration of Marg's life will be held at Memories Funeral Home, 13403 St Albert Trail NW, Edmonton, Alberta at 2:00 pm. Marg has asked that, though she loved flowers, an appreciation of sympathy be made in the form of donations to either the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra or the International Fund for Animal Welfare (elephant care).
