With fond memories and sad hearts, Marguerite Childs, our much-loved Mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister passed away peacefully in Edmonton on March 24, 2021. This was twelve years almost to the day that her late husband Jack passed away. Mom will be remembered and missed by her sister Claire and her four daughters, Betty (Harry), Marguerite (Armin), Susan (Will), Joan (Mark) and her grandchildren Arnica (Nick), Robyn, Michael (Kim), Craig, Sarah, Kurt, Logan and Scott, and great grandchildren Katrina and Grayson.
Mom was born in Edmonton and lived her whole life in Edmonton, believing it was the best place in the world. She enjoyed travelling with her husband to England, Belgium, Hawaii, Bermuda, Desert Hot Springs, the Yukon, Victoria and the Rocky Mountains. Visits to and from her family along with family meals were highlights of her life. Mom enjoyed spending time in Edmonton’s river valley especially walks on the Fort Edmonton Foot Bridge.
Mom was very strong through a few medical challenges including beating covid in January.
We extend our gratitude to Mirline, Marie and Muriel at LO Riverbend for their compassion, dedication and kindness over her 11 years there. To the staff at MacTaggart Place – a heartfelt thank you for the team effort, caring, compassion and support given to our whole family. You made these last few years very comfortable and homelike. During this past year you went above and beyond when covid restricted our visitations.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Mom’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Edmonton or a charity of your choice. A private family funeral will be held.
