The second youngest of 11 children, Martin, liked to fix things and help others from a very young age. Martin’s hardworking nature came from his upbringing on a lovely farm in Manitoba. His mischievous smile and playful nature were infectious to all who were around him. Martin was a devoted son, brother, husband, uncle, father, grandfather, friend and neighbour who made sure his wife and children were well cared for before his passing and was helping people well into his sickness. His kindness was never-ending. His philosophies were: learn as much as you can, try to know a little bit of everything and don’t be a follower,
His hobbies included riding his motorcycle, tinkering around in his garage, cooking, sewing, traveling, listening to good music and enjoying the company of others. An enthusiastic supporter of the Toronto Maple Leafs, he finally attended his first game in person in October of 2019 where they won the game. Go Leafs Go!
Martin will be sadly missed by his wife Sharon; children Stephanie (Matt), David and Diana; Grandson Frederick; siblings Judy, Leonard, Tom, Arnold, Helen, Susie and Walter; and his best friend Ken Van Der Putten (AKA ‘Putt Putt’).
He is predeceased by his parents David and Mary Waldner; sister Mary, and brothers Jake and Dave (Diffy).
