Melida Violet (Farrell) Pelley (81) of Edmonton, Alberta, passed away peacefully on October 23,2024 with family at her side. Melida is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Albert Pelley, daughters Sharon (Paul) Robert and Tracy (Reg) Robar, sons Paul (Sandra) Pelley and Shawn (Yvonne) Pelley, as well as her 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Melida was predeceased by her son, Allan (Arlene) Pelley and her great grandchildren Ceili and JB. They will be in heaven to greet her with open arms and much love.
Melida was born in Port-aux-Basque (NL) to Bradley and Mary Farrell. After meeting her true love and starting their family, they travelled westward in the early 1970s. She spent many years in Smithers, BC and Jasper, AB raising her family. She had the biggest heart, and was always willing to help anyone and share what she had with them. Her homemade bread will be fondly remembered by those who had the pleasure of tasting it. Although she tried to teach her special gift of breadmaking, many have tried but all have failed to meet her level of breadmaking skills. Her favourite past times were knitting and crocheting. She could whip out a dishcloth in the blink of an eye, and would make boxes of them for donation to the Salvation Army and her friends and family. She had a bright smile, and enjoyed a good laugh. She valued her family above all and enjoyed the days when they could celebrate special occasions together. Melida was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories and the love she had for each one of them.
I'll remember all you've taught me and make you proud you'll see. Thank you, my Dear Mother, for all the love that you showed me. Although you've left this earth, and now you've taken flight. I know that you are here with me each morning, noon and night. – Ruth Graham
As Melida never liked to be the center of attention, a small Celebration of Life will be planned in the future for family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made in Melida’s name to the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta.
