December 13, 1984 – July 14, 2023
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our gentle giant Nathan who sadly left Mother Earth on Friday July 14, 2023. He was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and was raised in Calgary, Alberta. He was a quiet soul for the most part, often being a big grumpy grump, a little hard to get to know when you met him, but once you cracked through that tough exterior you had revealed an incredible and very caring young man; you then had a friend for life.
Nathan is survived by his father Percy Janzen (wife Michelle) of Calgary, AB, his mother Tracie Anderson of Edmonton, AB, and his older brothers Quenton Anderson and David Anderson both of Edmonton, AB. His stepsister Rebecca Mackenzie-Eno (Ryan) of Ottawa, ONT., and stepbrother Eric Mackenzie (Sandra) of Montreal, Que., his maternal grandmother Christine Sinclair, Calgary, AB, and his bonus Grandmother Carol Anderson (David Anderson), Wetaskiwin, AB. Nathan was pre-deceased by his maternal Grandfather David Anderson, Wetaskiwin, AB., Paternal Grandparents Vera and Art Janzen, Medstead, SK., and his Uncle Graham Anderson, Calgary AB.
Nathan enjoyed his numerous road trips with his Dad and Michelle, cooking like his Dad Percy and his Grandpa Anderson, and more than often surprising his parents and brothers with the outcome of that talent. He also enjoyed reading, the challenge of video games, and watching his favorite football team (Saskatchewan Roughriders) and hockey team (Boston Bruins) with his Dad and brothers. Nathan spent a lot of time with his brothers, they honestly had this invisible thread between them all that could not be broken no matter what happened, or the distance between them. He also spent an enormous amount of time with his mother, wrote the cutest notes as a child and would leave them on her pillow to see; it meant the world for her knowing he was always there if ever needed.
Nathan will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his numerous Aunts and Uncles on both sides of his family who mainly reside across Alberta and Saskatchewan, as well as numerous cousins and close friends. Special mention of his cousins Adrian Prill, Edmonton, AB., Derek Janzen of Kimberley BC., Josh Anderson Fairview AB., with whom he had close relationships with. In addition, we would like to mention James Bailey Sr., and James Baily, Jr., with whom Nathan had formed a very close friendship with when he resided in Calgary.
You are taking a huge piece of our spirits that we are tucking gently under your hands, so you are never alone. Rest easy and in peace son and fly high with the Eagles our handsome Nathan. Your gentle, loving spirit lives on in all of us.
Love Mom, Dad, David and Quenton xoxo
