It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Chief Warrant Officer Patrick Blake, OMM, UNEF, CD2, Ret. on September 2, 2023, at 83 years of age in Edmonton, Alberta. His choice to pass away with dignity after years of painful suffering was supported by his family, who were by his side as he took his last breath.
Pat was born in the Crow's Nest Pass in Alberta to parents Raymond and Irene. He moved away at a very early age to join the Armed Forces, where he met and married the love of his life. Soon after they moved to Ontario, their two daughters were born. As a family they were lucky to have 3 tours in Germany spending a total of 12 years abroad.
He was a highly respected member of the Armed Forces, and as a tribute to his dedication and hard work, Pat was awarded the prestigious Canadian Order of Military Merit in 1987.
Keeping active was a very important part of Pat's life, participating in a record number of 21 full marathons. In addition to staying active, he also spent hours honing his woodworking skills, building amazing furniture, which was showcased in all our homes.
Mourning the loss of this amazing, kindhearted man are his wife, Berenice, daughters Sherrie and Patti (Gary), grandchildren Eric (Shey), Tara (Derek), Alex (Melissa), and great grandchildren Emerson, Callie and Haven. He will be truly missed. Condolences can be sent to Hainstock Funeral Home.
