Salvatore "Sam" Scalzo

January 15, 1917 – March 13, 2011

On Sunday, March 13 Sam passed away after struggling with complications of a stroke and pneumonia.

He will be greatly missed by his daughters Anna (Angelo) Scozzafava, Rosa (Carl) Blanes, his brother Vito (Maria Giuseppa) Scalzo, sister-in laws Maria Rotundo, Elizabeth Scalzo and Veronica Scalzo. Sam also leaves behind grandchildren Maria Gardella, Tony Scozzafava, Carla Rogoza and Steve Blanes, great grandchildren Christina Rotundo, Angela Rotundo, Brian Scozzafava, Julia Matthews and Talia Rogoza, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Sam was predeceased by his wife of 72 years Gina, his son Joseph, infant daughter Rosina, parents Anna and Giovanni, brothers Francisco and Giovanni and sisters Maria Angela, Maria Giuseppa, Modesta and Rosina.

A prayer service will be held Thursday, March 17, 2011 at St. Pius X Church, 13072 -Sherbrooke Avenue, Edmonton, AB at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 18, 2011 at St. Pius X Church at 10:30 am with Reverend Patrick Baska officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Somerset Extended Care for their kindness and great care given to our father over the years.
