He got that unusual and endearing name because some of his grandkids couldn’t quite say “Grandpa.” It became “Gangpie,” and eventually, just “Pie.”
And like the name itself, he was truly one of a kind—unique, unforgettable, and full of character.
Sig Skaley, affectionately known as Pie, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, at the age of 88, surrounded by love. He was a devoted husband, father, a proud grandfather, great-grandfather, and a unique character.
Born in Mosside, Alberta, Sig worked hard all his life. He loved making money, talking about making money and thinking about making money. No matter how.
He is survived by Eleanor, his wife of 65 years, his daughters Sherry (Ron), Maureen (Ken), Grandchildren Tracey (Shane), Carrie (Jon), Cody (Lynne), Sheldon (Kathryn), and Great Grandchildren Sadie (Omar), Lexx, Shai, Hailey, Brianna, Caden, Cody, Carter and Levi.
The service will be held Thursday, July 17 at 2:00 pm at Hainstocks Funeral Home 9810 – 34 Ave NW, Edmonton, Alberta.
