It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Grandma and GG. Victoria Haylock (nee Mack) peacefully slipped away on September 29, 2019, surrounded by her loving family; at the age of 88 years. Vicki was born in Glendon, Alberta to Harasym and Veronica Mack. She married Jack Haylock in 1951 and was predeceased by him; her son, Dwayne; her mother and father; and nine sisters and brothers (Mike, Helen, Steve, Bill, Jeanne, Peter, Ann, Edna and Daniel). Her legacy is her family: she is survived by daughter, Debbie; son, John (Sharon); grandchildren Lindsay (Andrew), Kelly (Peter), and Rhett; eight great-grandchildren (Nathaniel, Benjamin, Weston, Sarah, Griffin, Matthew, Isobel & Grace); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Vicki spent her childhood on the farm and, after moving to Edmonton in 1951, had a long career in banking before retiring from Canada Trust in 1991. GG (as she was affectionately known) was vivacious and fun loving, always the life of the party, a superb cabbage roll and cookie maker, and had a competitive spirit when playing cards. She was an avid curler, loved the challenge of difficult crossword puzzles and all card games, including her beloved bridge. She enjoyed travel, including a trip to Asia, trips to Florida, and a mother-daughter road trip across Canada. Some of her most cherished memories were made when she returned to her roots, spending weekends at a family friend’s farm outside of Edmonton.
Vicki’s world was always focused on family, even after she was diagnosed with dementia. She lit up when her great grandchildren were in the room and doting on them was her passion. In her final days she was surrounded by all who loved her. GG, we love you and miss you deeply.
To celebrate Vicki, family and friends are invited to tell stories and raise a glass to toast a life well-lived, at the Derrick Golf & Winter Club (3500-119 St Edmonton) on October 19 from 2:00pm-5:00pm.
In lieu of flowers the family gratefully encourages donations to ElderCare Edmonton (https://www.eldercareedmonton.ca/) or the Alzheimers Society of Alberta and the Northwest Territories (https://alzheimer.ca/en/ab)
