It is with great sadness that we announce that Dr. V K Thapar, 75 years old, of Edmonton passed away surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, December 15th. He was born on March 2, 1941 in Moga, India. He dedicated over four decades to medical practice, starting as a surgeon in India, then general practitioner physician in England, and ultimately in Canada. Dr. Thapar worked tirelessly to serve the needs of families and the community at large. He is survived by his wife, Pratibha; three daughters, Mala, Tania, Natasha; son-in-law, Dr. Sunil Bananda; and two granddaughters, Shivania, Ishika. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the ICU at the University of Alberta Hospital.
A viewing will be held Thursday, December 22nd, 10-11:30am, at Hainstock’s Funeral Home (9810-34 Ave NW, Edmonton), followed by a funeral service 12-3pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.
