It was with great sadness and many precious memories that the family of Wally Kopinsky, 91, said goodbye on August 2, 2020. Wally was predeceased by his wife Noel in 2004. He leaves behind his children Kelly (Glory), Susan (Finn), Karen (Everett) and Clancy (Sherri); grandchildren Leah (Jeff), Morgan, Jeff, Kirsten, Cheyenne, Tiara and Kaylee; and a great grandson, Luke.
The cabin at Lac La Nonne was Wally’s happy place. There was always a cold Budweiser and a roaring campfire with guitars, and Wally blasting out his own lyrics to every song. His second favourite place was the Barrhead Golf Course where you could see him on the fairways in his Blue Heron golf cart. There were many memorable Christmas Eves when a large group of carollers (guitars, trumpet, clarinet and triangle included) would descend on surprised and unassuming family and friends- Santa would even make a road trip. Cross-country ski trips were always fun, and his hot tub at home also hosted many a party. Fun times were a staple in his life and many of you shared in those times.
Walt struggled with Dementia with Lewy Bodies for the last 8 years making life very challenging for him, but he was still able to enjoy live music on pub days at his care facility.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Devonshire Care Centre, Ref -“Recreation Bands” (1808 Rabbit Hill Rd, Edmonton T6R 3H2) or to a charity of one’s choice.
There will be a small family gathering to celebrate Walt’s life, but the family invites you to enjoy a video of memories https://youtu.be/X5NIEEAVMZE
