

On May 1, 2016, following his round of golf, Bill passed away at age 92. He will be forever remembered by his children, Betty Lou, Rick (Susan), Debbie (Wayne), Diane, Ann-Carol (Mark); daughter-in-law, Sylvia; 9 grandchildren, Michelle, Kelly, Melanie, Kyle, Shawn, Amy, Christian, Hannah, and Hugo; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Lawrie; and numerous relatives and friends. Bill was predeceased by his loving wife of 44 years, Margery; his son, Don; his cherished companion, Ping Matthews; and his brother, John.
Bill was born in High River, AB and spent his youth on the family farm in Okotoks. He was a proud veteran having served with the RCAF as a Flying Officer during WWII. Following the war, Bill and Marge settled in Edmonton where Bill enjoyed a rewarding 41 year career with Dowell/Schlumberger. He had a lifelong passion for aviation, curling and golf, and was an original member of the Derrick Club. Many of his retirement years were spent in Fallbrook, California.
The family extends its heartfelt thanks to Dad's caregiver Eunice.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held at the Derrick Club (3500-119 Street) on Monday, May 16th, 2016 at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bomber Command Museum of Canada in Nanton, AB, or the War Amps.
