Dorthy "Dottie" Virginia Swaim

Dorthy "Dottie" Virginia Hendrick Swaim, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed from this life on May 19, 2021, in El Cajon at her residence. She was the youngest of four children, born on December 16, 1928, in Dallas, Texas. She is preceded in death by her dear husband, Charles Ray Swaim.

After college, marriage, and military life, Dottie and Charlie moved to San Diego in 1955. She was a schoolteacher at Pepper Drive Elementary in El Cajon, and active member of the Johnson Avenue Church of Christ for over 60 years.

She loved travel and adventure, including parasailing in her 70s and boogie boarding well into her 80s at one of her favorite places, Mission Beach. She was dedicated to her family who loved her dearly. She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Barry Swaim & Evelyn, Kelly Swaim & Chelsea, Jeffrey Swaim & Brenda; five grandchildren, Ryan Swaim, Amy Payton, Jade Parrish, Taylor Azhocar, and Drew Swaim; and eleven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Charlie, Elijah & Willow Swaim, Iyla, Ione & Nova Payton, Sedona,

Avalon & Eden Parrish, and Rory Azhocar.

A Memorial & Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 11:00am, at the Johnson Avenue Church of Christ, 523 South Johnson Avenue, El Cajon, CA 92020.
