

Allen Bradley Mills, Sr. (Brad) was born on February 20, 1940 in Beloit, Wisconsin to parents Walter Clark Mills and Natalie Adele (Adams) Mills. When Brad was a young boy, the family moved to Florida and Brad spent his childhood there, where he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and exploring.
Brad enlisted with the Navy at the age of 17 1/2, and shipped out on February 20, 1958 - his 18th birthday.
After his term in the Navy was fulfilled, he settled in California and was married to Lorraine R. Katen. They had two children, Kristine in 1965 and Kennyth in 1968. Brad's parents relocated from Florida to California to be close to the grandchildren, settling with them in Huntington Beach, CA.
Brad enjoyed playing the guitar and the accordion, and had a wonderful singing voice. He also wrote songs, and enjoyed playing music and singing with friends every week in their makeshift music studio in the garage in the 60’s and early 70’s.
Brad was a law enforcement officer with the L.A. County Sheriff's Department, Firestone Station, from 1967-1972, and later, relocated to San Diego to work in sales for Motorola Communications.
After his marriage to Lorraine ended, Brad married Carolyn L. Pascoe in 1977 and they had two children, Amy in 1979 and Allen in 1981, raising them in Spring Valley, CA.
After a varied career in sales, Brad went back into Law Enforcement and worked as a Security Officer with the U.S. Marshal’s Office at the Federal Building in San Diego until his retirement in 2005.
Brad is survived by his wife, Carolyn Mills, 4 children: Kristine (Bob) Munir, Kennyth (Melanie) Mills, Amy (Mike) Barton and Allen B. Mills, Jr. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren: Haley Barton, Johanna Mills, Noah Barton, Darjine Munir and Carolynn Barton, and his younger brother, Roger (Sue) Mills. Brad is also survived by his dear family friends who were like his children: John and Regina Gigl, and their children Robert and Kristina. Brad also leaves a large extended family: Sisters in Law Deb Pascoe and Cindy Farrell and Brother in Law Jim Farrell, 3 nieces: Sara (Scott) Muhlbauer, Beth (Justin) Kannas and Allie Farrell and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins. He will be missed by all.
A memorial service is scheduled to be held at Miramar National Cemetery on February 15th, from 1:00-1:30 pm, with a reception to follow at the Mills home.
