October 13, 1964 — September 12, 2024
Anna Marie Gauna, a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home on September 12, 2024, in El Cajon, California. She was born on October 13, 1964, in San Diego County, California, where she lived most of her life. In 1993, her young family moved to Nottoway County, Virginia, where she lived for almost 23 years. She raised her three sons there and enjoyed a career with the United States Postal Service for many years. In 2016 Anna returned to California to help care for her aging mother. She was a devoted daughter and caregiver who enjoyed helping others and spending time with her large extended family.
A passionate supporter of the San Diego Padres and Kansas City Chiefs, she relished the excitement of watching their games with her mother and son. Her pet cat, "Boom," was a constant companion, bringing her comfort and joy. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother, whose nurturing spirit extended to her many nieces, nephews, and great-nephews. Anna was known for her love of fashion, sense of fun, and supportive nature; a combination that made her a beloved figure among family and friends. Her hobbies and interests showcased her creative talent and caring personality. She found joy in sewing and home decorating, activities that allowed her to express her artistic side and create warm, inviting spaces for her loved ones. Her home was always a place of comfort and creativity, a sanctuary where love was felt in every carefully sewn stitch and thoughtfully decorated room. Anna's life was a testament to the beauty of simple pleasures and the importance of family.
Anna was the much-loved daughter of George and Angie Gauna. Her father, George Gauna, and brother, George Gauna, Jr., preceded her in death, but her mother, Angie Gauna, continues to carry her memory. Anna's vibrant spirit is survived by Edward Rogerville, Jr., John Rogerville, and Nicholas Rogerville, her cherished sons. She also leaves behind her treasured daughter-in-law, Maria Rogerville, and her adored granddaughter, Gabriella Rogerville. Among her family, she is survived by her loving sisters Rosanne Zimmerman, Ruth Gamet, Charlotte Gauna-Fowler, and Lisa Taylor, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will always remember her as their fun-loving and affectionate aunt.
Though her passing leaves an unfillable void, her loving spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her family will forever treasure the countless memories they shared, the laughter, the love, and the lessons she imparted. Rest in peace in the arms of Jesus, our beloved Anna Banana, until we see you again.
