Barbara Ann Brittain

Barbara Ann Brittain (formerly Russell and Finch) passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and deep love for her family. Born in Watsonville, California, to Donald and Nancy Russell, Barbara was raised in Pacific Beach, California, where the ocean, sunshine, and salty water became her lifelong sanctuary and a constant renewal for her spirit. Throughout her life, she also spent cherished time living in Lake Tahoe, Napa, California, and Northwest Montana.

Barbara dedicated many years to the hospitality and food service industry, working at Carrillo’s and the Tecolote Golf Course in Pacific Beach. Most recently, she worked at SeaWorld’s "Dine with Shamu" restaurant. She especially treasured the times her children could join her at the golf course and at SeaWorld. Guided by her compassionate heart, Barbara also traveled to Mexico to do missionary work with Horizon Christian Fellowship in Clairemont, helping those less fortunate.

An avid animal lover, Barbara spent many years visiting the San Diego Zoo, with the Hummingbird Aviary being her favorite spot. For many years, her beloved dog, Domino, was her constant companion and helped her navigate life's toughest times. Barbara found great joy in music, particularly the songs of Diana Ross, John Denver, Van Morrison, Jackson Browne, and The Beach Boys.

Above all, Barbara’s pride and joy were her children. She approached life with a genuine love for those around her, and her eyes, smile, and heart completely lit up whenever they were near.

Barbara was a devoted mother to Ashley, Thomas Michael (Elise), and Matthew (Kari) Finch. She was a cherished grandmother to Bella, Mia, Violet, Santiago, Audrey, Jacob, Xander, Nora, and Eleanor.

She is survived by her sisters: Gina West of Thompson Falls, Montana, Rene’e Konstantine of San Diego, California, Michelle Bingham (Mike) of Thompson Falls, Montana, Lynda Rosas (Donato) of Vista, California and Tiffany Elliott (Chuck) of Paonia, Colorado. She also leaves behind her nieces, Angela Pesqueira (Rene’e), Hollyann Beach (Gina), Brianna O'Brien (Lynda), and Jenna Augustine (Lynda); and her nephew, Jesse James Russell (John) and Tommy Finch (former husband) of Napa.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Nancy Russell; her brother, John; her niece, Jessica Russell; and Scott Brittain (husband).

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Skief and Whitt families for their lifelong friendship and support through the years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Barbara's honor to the Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA) to support vital research and care for those affected by the disease. Donations can be made online by visiting http://www.hdsa.org

A private family gathering and scattering of ashes will be held in the near future. Arrangements are under the care of Dignity Memorial in El Cajon.
