Betty Patricia Fitzgerald

Our mom, Betty P. Fitzgerald, was not of today's world. She did not need to be known as an independant women. She wanted only to be known as "his Patty" and that is what will be on the grave marker she will share with our dad, at her request. She did not have a "career" other than being a "housewife" ( no longer called this as is not p.c.) and that of being a beautiful, strict but tender loving mom to her four children. She was content and proud with that and, of course, being the best wife ever to our father. With dad's Fire Department job she was a single mother a lot of the time (with shifts that were 24 hours on/24 hours off). She always managed to fill our home with love. We all felt we had the true "Leave it to Beaver" childhood. She was also very strong and hardworking,....we always had a squeaky clean house and yard and she always took great pride in that. She could sling a sledgehammer, tear down walls and climb on the roof of our two story home to help our dad re-roof the house. Today's HGTV women have nothing on her. Together they made everywhere they lived into a beautiful little oasis.

After dad's retirement and after we kids all flew the nest, she and dad travelled the world and enjoyed every moment together. I have never seen such a love story (biased, of course). All of us marvelled at how they always had to be holding hands and next to each other. I remember one friend always calling them "los enamorados" and many others calling them "the lovebirds" was that obvious. They were definitely each other's world.

After dad crossed over mom was lost. She tried to put on a brave face but with her ailing physical and mental health, it was a hard and difficult road. Although we will all miss her everyday of our lives , we are just glad to know she is off that difficult path and is together again with our dad, her Joe. We can even smile knowing she is at peace with all her loved ones that she has asked for over the past several years. She will be remembered and always in the hearts of her four children, 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, one great great grandson, one sister, one brother in law, one sister in law, one son in law, daughter in laws, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Love you, mom, we know you are still with us, until we meet again.....❤️❤️❤️
