The thought that you are gone still doesn’t make sense and is a hard pill to swallow. I can still hear your laugh and even the thought of if makes me smile just as it did when you were here on this earth and floods me with memories. Living next to you and Candy, we had SO many great times together… watching Bridesmaids over and over, late night shenanigans, all the parties and celebrations shared, walking to dinner at Brothers and getting the VIP treatment by your family, the belly laughing when we came up with your nickname Vrondon, little Connor always trying to “steal me” from Ken, welcoming baby Colton to the world. Just so many memories, so much FUN and LAUGHTER. I’ve since had neighbors that have said we’re the best neighbors ever and I smile and tell them the same back…but I’ve always secretly said in my head, nobody would EVER come close to the friendship that the four of us had and you will forever hold the title as best neighbor ever. It was bittersweet when Ken and I were finally able to purchase our home just a few blocks away, because that meant that we’d be moving away and it would be as easy to just walk across the lawn or do the Tool Time “hey neighbor” over the fence like you would. You were flipping homes at the time and helped us take our new to us but straight outta the 50s boarded up foreclosed home and make it not only livable again but a place that we could have and raise a family. After you worked your FULL day, you would then come over and help us late into the night work on our home. That was just the type of person you were. You said that someday if you ever needed help that we’d do the same for you, and it was true. You’re no longer here, but the offer still stands. If there is anything that your family ever needs we are here. Our deepest condolences to your family, if we can help in any way, please know that we are here.

Where do I begin?

In about 2008 my wife ( then girlfriend) and I rented a house in Allied Gardens that we stumbled upon in the newspaper adds.  Not long after getting settled in, a friend of ours heard the neighbors in their backyard and poked her head over to be warmly greeted by Brandon. Life has a funny way of working out… turns out my wife and her friend had known Brandon since high school. Brandon and I had an instant bond as anyone who ever met Brandon also shared I’m sure. 

I can’t count  the number of times he and I would crack one other up with jokes, or more frequently quoting movie lines, most notably Dumb and Dumber. 
Brandon was always there to help.  

About 2 days before my wife and I were to be married there was a huge blackout all across San Diego.  It was the day we were doing a lot prep for the wedding. Amid our many challenges Brandon came over and assured my wife the wedding would take place.  If needed he would find how to get ordained and he would conduct the ceremony as needed.  He wasn’t joking. That’s just who he was. 

Later when the time came to buy a house I was lost, so of course I asked Brandon to help inspect a place in the neighborhood. With no hesitation he was in the attic with me seeing how crazy we could get with a renovation.  Next thing we knew we got the place and Brandon spent countless hours help us rebuild our home.  

I’ve spent the past several days replaying memories and am truly thankful that Brandon was in our lives.  I wish those times could go on forever. 
Our hearts and love go out to Conner and Colton, and his entire family and friend circle. We all have great memories, never let those go

Brandon was a once in a lifetime unwavering  friend and an amazingly beautiful young man. Our lives were blessed to have known him and our hearts broken.

Before Brandon had his own construction company, he worked for a contractor for Petco Park during the early stages of the build. There is a brick with his name on it honoring all the men and women who helped build Petco Park for the Padres. His name is forever part of the foundation at the park. It can be found near the Western Metal Supply building.

We were all very sad to hear of Brandon's passing.  He and my son Jake have been best of friends for many years.  He was very close to our whole family and he will be truly missed.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Colton, Conner and his entire family.

Brandon Rice, where do I begin??  I am so sad about losing you. You were a great friend and I love you so much always and forever Brandon, you were my blood and I was your pesky little sister lol you and Luke were best friends!! I can't believe your gone. Love you Brandon

On the day of Brandon's birth, I was allowed to visit his Mom in recovery to witness the miracle of a boy that I would soon call my Son. I remember his grandfather Bob being especially excited on the news that after 4 girls of his own, a boy would now grace the Moreau family. Brandon was exceptionally gifted at the age of 3. I would read his favorite books to him only to discover that all I had to do was start the first sentence and he would recite the whole page word for word. By 4, he could read highway signs, menus in a restaurant and directions to where the attractions were in amusement parks. This gift carried him through high school were he graduated early. After some college classes on home inspection, he entered contractor's licensing school and received his contractors license. He formed his own business naming it after his boys - CCB construction. Brandon was a perfectionist in the trade. His attention to detail showed in his craft where nothing less than perfection was acceptable.  Brandon was an outstanding baseball player. Rising to the level of the "A" leagues. I marveled at the skill and finesse of his abilities. His homerun power was amazing. The level of hustle as a catcher, his speed and strength made me feel envious. His boys also followed this path and are still today as good or better players than Brandon was. Brandon lived his life how he wanted and raised his boys to his best abilities with the help and support of family and loved ones. Brandon's charisma as a baseball coach was second to none. What a thrill to be the leader for your boys team and influence other young baseball players. Brandon impacted their lives through sports and left a lasting impression that I hope will stay with them throughout their adult lives. I love and miss you Brandon. Thank you for the memories we've shared all these years.

On this day, we ventured out beyond Point Loma where we were boarded by harbor police. Luckily, we had valid fishing licenses and boat registration as well as passing all safety measures. Brandon was very compliant and patient with the officers. I was irritated because of the way they approached us but Brandon took the lead and kept me calm so the inspection was smooth and quick. Thank you my son for having the wit and wisdom to handle stressful situations such as these.

Brandon loved to fish. I could call and ask him if he wanted to meet me at the bay and he would be there in a moments notice.

Brandon and Colt; Brandon was a stickler for doing things the right way. Baiting, casting and reeling in a catch were overseen by Brandon's' detailed instruction.
