John lived a life defined by family, loyalty, and place. Born in Buffalo, New York, he spent his early years there before moving to San Diego at age 17. His family settled in La Mesa, but it was Alpine — where he made his home beginning in 1978, that became the community he cherished for nearly five decades.
He was a man who showed love through presence: a devoted husband to Carol, a loving father to Steve, Kristina, and Lena, and a proud grandfather to Brennen. He was the son of Victor and Linda Ghianni and the brother of Frank and Terri, roles he held with quiet pride.
Whether sharing stories, offering help without being asked, or simply sitting with the people he loved, he made others feel grounded. Alpine was his home, but his true home was always his family.
His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his memory will continue to guide and comfort those who loved him.
He will be remembered with love and deeply missed by all who knew him.
