Daniel “Danny” Cordero passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 3, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. His presence, strength, and unwavering love leave a legacy that will never be forgotten.
A viewing and visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at El Cajon Mortuary, where family and friends are welcome to gather, share memories, and honor his life.
Danny is survived by his devoted wife, Nina Dimla Cordero, and his beloved children—by both blood and by bond: Monic Cordero, Maya Cordero, Marc Cordero, Lilia Calip, Rita Martinez, Johnny Martinez, and Veronica Martinez. He was a proud grandfather to Jazmine and Roman Daniel. Danny also leaves behind his siblings: Alfonso Cordero, Luis and Sally Cordero, Moises and Nora Cordero, and Jaynee and Johnny Salas, along with a large and loving circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and lifelong friends.
Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, and raised in Wesley and Modesto, California, Danny’s journey eventually brought him to El Cajon in 2007, where he continued to build a life centered around family, loyalty, and love. He was a protector, a man of resilience, and a source of strength to those around him. He had a deep love for music—especially old school jams and classic oldies—and found comfort in the simple joys of life, including watching YouTube videos in recent years.
Danny’s final chapter was marked by immense courage. After undergoing a quadruple bypass in December 2023, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 adenocarcinoma. Even then, he fought with everything he had—enduring chemotherapy, and on January 8, 2025, bravely undergoing another major surgery to remove his stomach in an effort to beat the cancer. Though the illness returned in the months that followed, Danny remained a fighter to the very end, never losing his spirit or his love for those closest to him.
We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support from our family, friends, and community. Your kind words and gestures have uplifted us during this difficult time. We are humbled to know that Danny touched so many lives and was cherished by all who knew him.
He will be remembered always with deep affection and sorely missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.
