Daniel Reyes, age 44, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026, in the intensive care unit of the hospital, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on November 9, 1981, Daniel was a brilliant, hardworking, and deeply devoted husband, father, Tata, son, and friend who lived his life with unshakable faith, vibrant energy, and a generous heart.
A resident of Escondido, Daniel was a powerhouse in his community. He took immense pride in running Ribbit Pest Control, a family business founded by his late father-in-law, John Morin. Daniel stepped up to run the business with absolute dedication, carrying forward a meaningful family legacy while balancing his roles as a devoted family man and a selfless caregiver to his own father.
To know Daniel was to know a man who loved creating lasting memories and celebrating life. His absolute favorite thing to do was cook for his family and host his friends, filling his home with music, crowded kitchens, and joyful laughter. Alongside his wife, he managed a massive, bustling household of seven children and a grandson. Pulling off big family holidays and birthdays was their signature team milestone. At the end of every celebration, they shared a traditional high-five and said, “We did it again.” He loved traveling with his family to theme parks, fully embracing the shared fun and joy of simply being together.
Daniel’s personality was full of style, creativity, and deep conviction. He was a die-hard fan of the Raiders and the Los Angeles Dodgers, took immense pride in his Chevy Monte Carlo, and was an avid sneakerhead with a treasured collection of Nike Air Jordans. A man of quiet brilliance, he was an exceptionally talented artist who loved to sketch and was known for his pristine, beautiful penmanship. Above all, Daniel possessed an extraordinary heart for others. He lived out his faith by regularly feeding the homeless, ensuring that no one around him went hungry.
More than anything, Daniel was a man who loved unconditionally. He chose his wife every single day, standing as her constant anchor, her fiercest protector, and an unwavering source of grace through every one of life’s storms. His family was his absolute world. He was a deeply proud father and grandfather who lived to watch his daughters run, cheer, and compete. He never missed an opportunity to root for Ianna in wrestling, flag football, and softball; Sadie in flag football; and Jasmine on the basketball court.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife, his seven cherished children, his beloved grandson, his father and mother, and a vast community of extended family and friends whose lives were forever brightened by his presence. Daniel fought a long, historic marathon to stay with those he loved, and he leaves this world with absolute dignity, having finished his watch.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Chula Vista, California. This will be followed by a visitation celebrating his extraordinary life and legacy at El Cajon Mortuary at 4:00 p.m. 684 S Mollison Ave. El Cajon CA 92020.
