David William Craig, 72, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. David was born to Russell and Marjorie Craig in Cambridge, Ohio on September 21, 1947. He married Sharon Brabon Mattson in 1982. They celebrated 37 years of marriage together in November. David joined the U.S. Army in 1968 and served in Vietnam. After honorably serving his country, he relocated from Michigan to San Diego in 1984 where he owned bookkeeping and accounting business. Thereafter he was a controller for a locally owned carpet business. He resided in La Mesa and San Carlos for 36 years.
David is survived by his wife Sharon Craig, daughters Deborah Gordon, Jennifer Roach (Mark), Lynn Gale, and Kristen Stillwell (Mark), nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Russelle Kuehl and Anne Swanson (Duane), two brothers, Thomas Craig and Wilbur Orme (Kay).
David enjoyed hiking Mission Trails with Sharon and his dog Buddy. He was a volunteer for the Sheriff’s dive team in Flint, Michigan during the early 1980’s and in later years served as a volunteer for the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and the Red Cross. David and Sharon loved spending time with family and traveling the world together on their many vacations.
Private services and interment will be held at Miramar National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, you many donate to the San Diego County Humane Society at www.sdhumane.org., Attn: Philanthropy.
