

He is survived by his wife, JoAnne Calhoun of 45 years, sister, Dolores Calhoun, brothers, Leonard and Larry Calhoun, daughters, Carolyn Duke, Lori Clark and son, Jason Calhoun. He has 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Dennis was born in Covina, California in 1946, his family moved to San Diego County in 1959 and resided in North Park. He graduated in 1964 from Hoover High School.
He worked in the Tree Industry for 35 years and became a Tree Trimmer working for Asphland and Davey tree service trimming trees from SDGE power lines. He had a lot of stories he shared from falling 30 feet on a boom truck or meeting a mountain lion, dogs charging him etc. Later, he worked for the City of San Diego as a Tree Maintenance Supervisor for 23 years.
He was a God-fearing Christian, who was a trustee at the Valley OP church and later a member of the Shadow Mountain Community Church.
He had a quiet kind spirit and a great sense of humor with one-liners that kept people laughing. He was a big Elvis fan who had all his songs and movies.
Everyone who met him said he was an upstanding person, who didn’t say anything bad about anyone. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.
We love you Dennis, you will always be in our hearts, and now you are with Jesus in Heaven!
