Dona Lee (McCray) Hoffman, born November 15, 1929 in Merriman, Nebraska passed away at age 86 on Sunday, August 14, 2016 in La Mesa, California. Dona, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother was best known as a talented dress maker, school district volunteer and elephant enthusiast. Dona was born to Harold LeGrand and Helen Mae Ayers, the 3rd of 7 children. She grew up playing in the Black Hills of South Dakota. She started sewing at age 7. Her favorite pastime turned into a full-time dressmaking business, where she made wedding dresses, band uniforms and elegant formal attire. She is survived by her husband of almost 58 years, two daughters, one son, and preceded in death by another son. She is most proud of her 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on August 27th at the El Cajon Mortuary. Viewing will begin at 10am followed by services from 12-1pm. Burial will occur on August 30th at 1pm in Miramar National Cemetery.
