Elizabeth Lou Shearer was born in Canton Ohio on September 12, 1930, to her loving parents William & Grace Gear. Elizabeth grew up in upstate New York. She always had a love for animals especially the jumping horses she rode as a child. Elizabeth was independent and strong. She graduated with her registered nursing license and became a Registered Nurse. Being the detail-oriented person she was helped her immensely throughout her career. She continued nursing for the next 55 years and helped countless people.
Elizabeth was of Episcopalian faith and was a loved member of her community. She was known as the life of the party anywhere she went. Especially, when joined by her other half Peter Shearer. They complimented each other perfectly and everyone loved to have them around. Together they had their children Maura McCarthy and Rebecca Sorrell. She was very involved in her community being a lifeguard, and teaching kids to swim as well as being on the Navy Wives Club softball team. The family was later joined by their beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elizabeth loved to travel going to the beach and being around water. She visited many places in Europe, Australia, Hawaii, and Tahiti. She enjoyed the outdoors and being active. She did yoga, golfed, and was an avid walker. Always having lighthearted jokes to bring cheer to anyone around her. She will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
