

Ella Jane Carnahan, beloved wife, mother, and pillar of the community, passed away on May 23, 2024, in San Diego, California. She was born on October 14, 1931, in California, to her loving parents Benjamin Ludlow Brittin and Mildred Beatrice Brittin.
Ella led a remarkable life, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She pursued education with diligence and graduated with a degree in mathematics. Her professional journey was equally impressive, serving as a Tax Assessor for San Diego County for 18 years and contributing her expertise to the Naval Electronics Laboratory Center.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ella was deeply involved in her community, being a proud member of the Baptist faith. She found solace and joy in her faith, which guided her through life's complexities.
In her leisure time, Ella indulged in various hobbies and interests that brought her immense happiness. She had a passion for reading, often delving into newspapers and mystery novels. Her love for the written word was matched only by her enthusiasm for outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and attending car clubs with her husband. Together, they enjoyed a fulfilling retirement, traveling in their motorhome and spending 25 years in Shelter Valley, where they hosted countless gatherings and barbecues.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Ace, with whom she shared a love that knew no bounds. Ella and Ace were inseparable since she was 18 years old and he was 21, embarking on a journey together that inspired all who knew them.
Ella's home was a reflection of her eclectic interests, filled with over 1,000 pieces of depression glass that she meticulously collected over the years. Her love for roses, storytelling, and collecting was evident to all who crossed her threshold.
Described as the "best mom" by her loved ones, Ella was an only child who exuded kindness, intelligence, and boundless love. Her gentle nature and incredible spirit touched the hearts of everyone she met, earning her a special place in the community and in the lives of those who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her son Steven Carnahan. Ella is survived by her son Mark Carnahan and wife Karen, and her daughter Lyneeta Carnahan. She is also survived by her granddaughter Samantha Carnahan, her grandsons Ryan Cooper and wife Amanda, Cody Dramer and wife Rachel, Kyle Dramer and fiance Julia. Also her great grandsons Nolan and Connor Cooper and Samuel Dramer.
A funeral service will be held to honor and celebrate Ella's life Saturday August 24th at The Elks Lodge , 1400 E Washington Ave, El Cajon, CA 92019 from 1:00-3:00PM. Though she may no longer walk among us, Ella Jane Carnahan's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who cherished her presence and the legacy she left behind.
