

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of "Ed", Fulgencio Eduardo Ancona, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life was defined by hard work, love, laughter, and family.
Born in Mérida,Yucatán, Mexico came to the United States with determination and a dream for a better future. Through perseverance, dedication, and an unwavering work ethic, he built a life centered on providing for and caring for those he loved most. He was a proud family man who raised his children with strong values and led by example every day.
For 69 wonderful years, he shared a loving marriage with his beloved wife, Genny R. Ancona. Together, they built a family filled with love, traditions, and cherished memories that will continue for generations.
One of his greatest joys was cooking for family and friends. An exceptional baker, he was especially known for his delicious hojaldra de jamón y queso, a beloved Yucatán pastry that became his signature specialty. His kitchen was often filled with the aromas of his creations and the warmth of those gathered around his table.
Ed had a remarkable sense of humor and was one of the funniest people anyone could know. He had a unique gift for making everyone laugh, and his infectious grin often accompanied the laughter he inspired in others. His presence could light up any room.
A lifelong student of history and current events, he possessed a sharp mind and an impressive knowledge of world affairs. Whether discussing historical events or today's headlines, he brought insight, wisdom, and thoughtful perspective to every conversation.
Though small in stature, he was truly larger than life. His strength of character, kindness, intelligence, and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Ed is survived by his loving wife Genny, Children, Jose E. Ancona; Francisco J. Ancona; Rebecca I. Fine; Sofia M. Ancona; Mary E. Ancona; 2 Great-Great Grandchildren; 10 Great Grandchildren; and 14 Grandchildren. Ed was predeceased by his daughters Genny B. Freeman, Nancy V. Benson, and one Grandson, Frankie J. Ancona.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends. His legacy of hard work, devotion to family, laughter, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at El Cajon Mortuary and Cremation Service, 684 South Mollison Ave., El Cajon, CA 92020, US, on June 18, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Committal Service will take place at El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121, US, on June 19, 2026, from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
