Harry was born on June 18, 1938, in Beloit, Wisconsin, to Lillian Cornelia Wright Hogan and Richard Oliver Hogan. He was the 4th of 5 sons. Harry was predeceased by his 4 brothers Lee, Gordan, Patrick, and Michael.
Harry proudly joined the U.S. Navy in 1957 and served for 20 years. Harry traveled the world and loved to tell stories of his adventures in almost every region of the world. A last-minute birthday cake request by President Eisenhower in the middle of the Pacific Ocean is a family favorite story. His love and respect for the Navy was always a guiding light in his life.
Harry met and shortly after married Bridget Healy in San Diego in 1977. Bridget and her 4 children were the benefactors of Harry’s kind and generous love. He brought so much joy and fulfillment into their lives. He is truly loved and appreciated by his surviving wife Bridget Ellen Hogan, 4 stepchildren: Linda Healy Nabulsi and spouse Samir, Kenneth E. Healy and spouse Lisa, Elizabeth Healy Lemieux (deceased) and spouse Mark, and Kelli Healy Treviranus and spouse Anthony. His love was also shared by his grandchildren; Genieve Lemieux, Travis Lemieux (deceased) and fiancé Ashely Verkuilen, Nicole Nabulsi Nosek, and spouse Luke, Jordan Healy, Paige Treviranus , Anthony Treviranus, Sierra Healy Van Ommering, and spouse Jordan, and his great grandchildren: Bridgette and Summer Healy, Aodan and Arthur Nosek, Ava Lemieux, Elizabeth and Ella Lopez and Jay Van Ommering.
Harry retired from the Navy in 1977, then worked and eventually retired from Hogan’s Hydraulics in 1997. He went on to enjoy a very active semi-retirement. Harry loved fishing, camping, golfing, he was an excellent bowler and bowled up to the last year of his life and he loved cruises, especially to Puerto Vallarta (he loved those t-shirts).
Harry was active up to the month before he passed, driving his golf cart around his community 3 days a week picking up recycles and trash for neighbors that found it more difficult to get to the centralized trash/recycle bins. He loved this job and the people he served. Harry’s motto, as anyone that knew him well knows, was “Eat Well and Keep Moving”….and he did (except for the Honey buns that he always had stash away).
Harry was an honorable man, who lived an honorable life and will be missed immensely by many. God Bless you Harry.
