Joe is a well-respected man to his family and friends. He will be remembered as the rock of the family. Always available for advice, mentoring, his endless wisdom. He loved his children and took great joy in seeing and playing with his grandchildren and great, and great-great-grandchildren.
When Joe was able he liked to play sports, shoot pool (Champion), sing, dance, and take care of his black beauty, his Chevy Impala.
Joe is survived by his wife, Florinda Chavez; his son Ray Ramirez of California; his son John Ramirez (Debbie) of Lyman, South Carolina; his son Robert Chavez (Kay) of Redondo Beach, California; his daughter Patricia Chavez of Chandler, Arizona; his daughter Sarah Morales (Armando) of Mesa, Arizona; his son Richard Chavez (Michelle) of El Cajon, California; his son Raymond Chavez (Becky) of Phoenix, Arizona; and his son Joey Steve Chavez (Linda) of Phoenix, Arizona; his brother Ruben Chavez of Phoenix, Arizona, his brother Ray Chavez of Phoenix, Arizona, his sister Clara Pena (John) of Phoenix, Arizona, his sister Julie Bermundos (George) of Sun City West, Arizona, his sister Juana Chavez of Phoenix, Arizona and his sister Margaret Chavez of Phoenix, Arizona.
Joe was preceded in death by his son Steve Chavez, his son Danny Chavez and his son Joey Chavez; his brother Raymundo Chavez; his brother Raymundo Chavez and his sister Olivia (Leo) Rael.
Joe is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at Pops’ favorite beach, La Jolla Shores on Monday July 8th 2024. We will be there sharing stories, music, memories and good times from 8am-5pm at the grass area behind the main lifeguard tower near the playground. Plenty of food and drink will be provided but feel free to bring whatever sides and barbecue you may like.
