Born January 15, 1935, in Neenah, Wisconsin. Parents George E. Klock & Alice Gertrude (Stilp) Klock. Joe was the fourth of six children. Helen Jane, John (Jack) Edward, James Joseph, Joseph Francis, Mary (Trudy) Gertrude and Richard Thomas.
Joe graduated from Bishop High School, Santa Barbara, CA in 1953. He attended Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles CA and graduated from University of California at Santa Barbara, in 1959 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Major in Economics.
He moved with his mother and younger siblings to Santa Barbara when he was 16. Like all his peers in those years, went to school, had two or three jobs at a time, rebuilt more than one car and loved the California weather. He started his career with Boy’s Clubs of America during his college years at the bottom of the line and worked way up to Asst. Director. He accepted the position of Executive Director of the just forming Boy’s Club of El Cajon in 1960. Retired from that position in 1991 leaving the community with 3 clubs and an impressive foundation. And most importantly he was able to guide and mentor hundreds of boys about responsibility, respect and honor. He attended Holy Trinty & St. Lukes Catholic Church. Participated in many community organizations, his favorites being Sister Cities, Rotary and the El Cajon Historical Society as well as being active in all his children’s school activities.
Joe is survived by his wife of 66 years, Christy A. Klock, his children Joseph G. (Bud) Klock, Jeffery A. Klock (Susanne), Victoria J. Chiappone, & Jonathan A. Klock (Dayna). Grandchildren: Valerie A. & Alexander J. (Melanie) Chiappone, Carsen J. (Chelsey) & Corbin A. (Brittney) Klock, and Adam H. & Sidney N. Klock. His beloved younger brother Richard T. (Mary Louise) Klock & sister in-law, Betty Marie Klock. Numerous treasured Nieces & Nephews, and many greats. And his loyal & true friends and associates, wonderful times!!!
