Joseph McCurdy Sparks

Joseph McCurdy Sparks was born October 26, 1966 at Grossmont Memorial Hospital and died November 19, 2023 at the Jennifer Moreno Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in La Jolla, California. Joseph graduated from Granite Hills High School in El Cajon, California in 1985 and attended Central Texas College in Killeen, Texas from 1989 to 2001. Joseph was a member of the United States Army from August 1985 to September 2007 gaining the rank of Supervisor - Staff Sergeant. He served as Tank Gunner, Bradley Calvary Scout, 2nd Squadron, 2nd Armored Calvary Regiment in the Operation Desert Storm/Operation Desert Shield. After leaving the military, Joseph was employed by the Universal Protection Service in San Diego, CA from 2007 to 2014. From 2014 to 2015, He worked for G4A Secure Solutions as a Patrol Officer. Thereafter, he worked for Pexis Corporation as a Security Officer.

Joseph is preceded in death by his mother, Georgia Raye Pamp Sparks, Registered Nurse for Grossmont Hospital and his father, Joseph Morgan Sparks, a Mailman. He is also preceded by his grandfather, George Russell Pamp of Lemon Grove, California and his grandmother, Frances Edith Davis Pamp O’Neil.

Joseph is survived by his brother, Gene Russell Stout Sparks of Colorado, his Aunt Kaye Seipp, Cousin Shannon Beirne and John Roberts of Wyoming and their families. He is also survived by his Uncle Gerald Russell Pamp and Cousin Gregory Russell Pamp of California and their families.

Joseph McCurdy Sparks will be placed at Miramar National Cemetery near his mother and father.
