

Kenneth Ball was born on August 27, 1935, in Pennsylvania, to his loving parents, Bert and Christina Ball. Growing up in a nurturing environment, Ken learned the values of hard work and community service from an early age. As a child, he became an Eagle Scout, a distinction that reflected his dedication, leadership, and commitment to helping others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Christina Ball; his siblings; his beloved wife, Marilyn Ball; his daughter, Julie Ball; and his great-grandson, Gage. He is survived by his children Bruce and Debbie Ball, Nancy and Rex Shumake, and Byron and Jerri Ball. Ken was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
Ken proudly served in the U.S. Navy, an experience that shaped his character and instilled in him a deep sense of duty and patriotism. Following his military service, he pursued higher education and earned a master’s degree, reflecting his commitment to lifelong learning.
For an impressive 35 years, Ken dedicated his professional life to serving the public as a postmaster. During this time, he became a well-respected figure in his community, known for his integrity, reliability, and friendly nature. His early achievement as an Eagle Scout was a foundation for the values he carried throughout his life—service to others, leadership, and a lifelong commitment to community.
In addition to his professional achievements, Ken was deeply involved in Freemasonry, where he progressed from a Mason to a Shriner. His dedication to the organization allowed him to forge strong bonds with fellow members and participate in numerous charitable initiatives.
Ken’s vibrant spirit shone through his involvement with the Fraternal Order of Real Bearded Santas, a role he embraced for 25 years. This unique calling allowed him to bring joy and laughter to countless events, including those hosted by the United Service Organization, the Chargers Santashop, and numerous private gatherings. His warmth, humor, and authentic joy made him a beloved figure who spread holiday cheer wherever he went.
A man of many talents, Ken also had a passion for magic and was a proud member of the prestigious Magic Castle, where he both honed and showcased his skills. His magic reflected his approach to life—full of wonder, creativity, and the ability to make others smile.
Ken was known not only for his talents but also for his humor, sweetness, and generous heart. A passionate collector, he surrounded himself with items that brought him joy and told the story of his remarkable life. In his younger years, Ken enjoyed sipping scotch, though over time he developed a fondness for Jim Beam. He had a deep love for animals, especially his cats and dogs, who were cherished members of his family. His artistic side was evident throughout his life—he loved to draw and later found fulfillment in woodworking, creating beautiful pieces that reflected his craftsmanship and creativity.
Throughout his life, Ken cherished his roles as a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, pouring love and wisdom into each generation.
On October 12, 2025, Ken passed away peacefully in his home in El Cajon, California. His absence is deeply felt, and he will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and unshakable spirit.
