Kevin Patrick Healy entered Heaven on September 17, 2023, at his home in Santee, California with his loving wife of 46 years, Pam, oldest son Jerrad, youngest daughter Jessica, and beloved miniature Australian Shepherd, Chase by his side.
On August 23, 1951, Kevin came into the world, the youngest of three children to Dominick and Joyce Healy in Quantico, Virginia. When Kevin was 5 years old, the Marines transferred his father and family to San Diego. As a young boy he attended Stella Maris Catholic School in La Jolla, California where he said he made many trips across the street to Mother Superior’s office. That may be why his mom strongly encouraged him to ride his Stingray bicycle to be an altar server at the Convent of the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Clairemont. Growing up in sunny San Diego, Kevin loved surfing, bike riding, baseball, swimming, fishing, and most importantly working on cars. After graduating from Clairemont High School in 1969, Kevin took classes at Mesa College and worked at various automotive repair shops. It didn’t take long for him to decide college wasn’t for him and he wanted to open his own shop. In 1976, Kevin fell in love with Pam and on May 14, 1977, they were married at Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church in La Jolla, California. In 1978, Kevin gave life to his entrepreneurial dream and opened East County Alignment in Santee, California where he always said, “if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” Kevin and Pam welcomed their first child Jerrad Michael in 1978, they later welcomed Jaccob Micah in 1981, and completed their family in 1984 with the birth of their daughter Jessica Marie. In 1992, Kevin & Pam were reunited with Kevin’s daughter Jennifer Michelle who was just 2 years old when they last saw her. In addition to raising their three children they also took part in the upbringing of their nephews Howard and Mark Kluge.
Kevin’s love and devotion to his family knew no bounds. On top of coaching youth sports, he treasured spending early mornings along the coast of San Diego surfing with Jerrad, many Fridays dirt bike riding with Jake in Mexico, and countless Saturdays trailering his horses to new trails to ride with Jessica. His happy place was at his second home in Lake Havasu with his family and on the boat. Later, in his semi-retired career he enjoyed traveling with his wife Pam and showing off his Irish passport. He loved spending time with his grandkids and was known to say, “If I knew grandchildren were going to be this fun, I would have had them first!” He was his grandkids’ biggest fan and looked forward to attending all their sporting events.
Kevin’s Catholic faith, work ethic, positive attitude, witty sense of humor, charity, and love of family and friends will be the characteristics that generate his legacy. He will mostly be remembered for his dedication and devotion to his wife Pam. Kevin is predeceased by his son Jake Healy, brother Brian Healy and parents Dee and Joyce Healy. He is survived by his wife Pam, son Jerrad Healy (granddaughter Camryn), daughters Jane Prem (granddaughters Grace and Brenna), Jennifer Healy (grandsons Jaccob and Bradley), Jessica Neder (son-in-law Ray Neder, granddaughter Ayden, and grandsons Cooper and Cole), sister Lynn Berglund, and many nieces and nephews.
May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields, And, until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Services for Kevin are scheduled for Thursday, October 12th, at the Immaculata Catholic Church inside the University of San Diego Campus at 5998 Alcalá Park, San Diego, CA 92110. Rosary at 10:30am and Funeral Mass at 11:00am. He will be laid to rest next to his son at Singing Hills Memorial Park in El Cajon.
