Born on January 3, 1933, Margaret was the oldest daughter in her family of three brothers and one sister. Her parents, Dan and Ella Rusch, made their home in Dunkirk, New York. They owned and operated one of the most successful and popular establishments in the area, RUSCH’S RESTAURANT.
Margaret (Peggy, the name she preferred) attended an all-girls school and met the man of her dreams, John O’Husky, from the all-boys school. They were married on January 6, 1954. John enlisted in the Army and his service brought them to California where they raised their children; three girls and three boys.
Peggy grew up during a time when wife, mother, and family were the most respected job titles any young woman could want. She devoted all of her life to those responsibilities with great joy, pride, and enthusiasm. Peggy was loved by many friends. She had a sweet and quiet demeanor. She would say to us, “Never the life of the party, but always at the party!”
Peggy was fortunate to have been blessed with a long, healthy, and happy life. This blessing granted her the opportunity to meet and enjoy her 16 grandchildren, and her 15 great-grandchildren.
Peggy is survived by her sister Nancy, brothers Ron and Dave, and her children Cathy, Jan, Gail, Brad, and Scott. She is preceded in death by her brother, Dan, loving husband, John, and son, Doug.
Our mother will forever be in our best memories growing up. She owns that place in our hearts reserved only for those that last forever.
