Mark Kagayutan Burgin, age 56, passed away on September 23, 2026. Born on September 18, 1970, Mark was born in the Philippines and grew up in Santee, California, where he attended Santana High School. From his earliest years, he was known as a kind and helpful boy—self-taught, capable, and drawn to learning skills that would serve him and others throughout his life. His sense of adventure showed early, whether through breakdancing, desert biking, or time spent enjoying watersports.
Mark built his working life with determination and expertise, becoming a landscaping business owner, an electrical contractor owner, and a master electrician. He took genuine pride in his craft and was especially known for how readily he could speak about electrical work—sharing knowledge with clarity and enthusiasm. In addition to his professional skill, Mark was widely respected for his practical ability and steady competence, a man who could handle the tasks others found daunting and who approached work with purpose and follow-through.
In 2005, Mark married Lisa, and together they raised their children: son Logan (born 2004), son Zachary (born 2007), daughter Kambrie (born 2011), and son Rex (born 2017). Mark’s devotion to his family was evident in the life he worked to provide—consistent, protective, and guided by love. He valued connection, kept relationships active, and carried a deep desire to teach and equip others, always looking ahead to what could be built, improved, or accomplished.
Mark attended Sonrise Church throughout his married life and brought his children up in the church. He also gave his time and talents in service, volunteering electrical work at Sonrise Church—quietly contributing in ways that were both practical and meaningful. Beyond his hands-on gifts, Mark took interest in the world around him and enjoyed conversations about government, the news, and real estate, engaging with these topics thoughtfully and with genuine curiosity.
Mark is survived by his wife, Lisa; his children, Logan, Zachary, Kambrie, and Rex; ; his mother, Myrna Burgin; his father, William Burgin Jr & Luz Mary; his brothers, Clark Burgin, Clint Burgin & wife Doreen, Billy Burgin and wife Amy, and Kevin Burgin; and his sisters, Christine Burgin and Pearl Burgin & Husband David.
In remembering Mark, many will hear his humor and spirit in a line he loved to quote—“As King Julien said in the Madagascar movie, Mark was always one to say: ‘I like to move it, move it’”—a fitting echo of the energy, drive, and forward motion he brought into the lives of those who knew him.
