Michael was born on April 3, 1953 in San Diego, California. Michael was called “Mike” by his family and friends. He grew up in Lemon Grove and attended Mount Miguel High School and graduated with honors in 1971.
From the time Mike could drive a car, he started his career in the automotive parts world beginning as a parts delivery driver and working his way up to automotive parts manager. He worked for several companies throughout his 45 years in the automotive industry including Broadway Auto Electric, Carquest, Firestone Tires, T.C. Distributing, Frank Toyota, E & M Auto Parts, and JBA Speed Shop. He perfected his craft and was an excellent parts and service writer. He could tell you what part you needed to solve your car issues. He also had the uncanny knack for remembering part numbers without looking them up.
Mike was a loving husband, devoted father, and would always go out of his way to help a friend. Family was always the most important thing for Mike and he would spend his free time with his children and was very involved in his children’s activities.
For a solid 10 years, Mike would be found on a soccer field in his spare time. Whether he was coaching his son’s team or cheering on his daughter from the sidelines, setting up goals, lining fields, or setting up the snack bar, he was having fun with his children. He was Commissioner of Spring Valley AYSO for over 7 years, was a Den Leader with Cub Scouts, and was always driving his children and the children of other families to soccer games, tournaments, and camping trips.
Then Mike purchased a 2002 Ford Mustang convertible and was bitten by the car show bug. He would wash and polish and baby his car and would drive to many a car show throughout California and Arizona.
Mike is survived by his wife of one year, Kathleen Hill; son Christopher Hill; daughter Victoria Fisher and her wife Kathryn; brother Lawrence Hill and his wife Judy; brother Richard Hill; his former wife and mother of his two children, Lynn Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.
With deep gratitude, we wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for your love, support, and thoughtfulness. It is greatly appreciated and will always be remembered by our family.
