Norma O. Camacho, 83 of Lakeside, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, surrounded by her children and loved ones after her battle with cancer. She was a native San Diegan and had an illustrious career as a cosmetologist.
She was an accomplished horseman of both Equestrian and English Dressage and taught lessons to many family members and friends. She also and trained her own horses. Up to the final week of her life, Norma was a devout and active student of Yoga and Pilates.
Everyone in our family knew of her love for baking and that she was more than a hobby enthusiast. Norma had a professional touch to her wedding cakes and candies. Mostly because we all knew she had a sweet tooth.
Norma continued attending sewing classes that she began with her mother Vera and Aunt, Maggie. She was an exceptionally talented seamstress and created much of her wardrobe. On several occasions winning Blue ribbons at the Del Mar Fair at the same time her grandchildren where showing animals.
At an earlier time in our lives, we moved to Texas when our father was transferred to St. Louis Missouri. Norma kept our family together in the state of Texas. She immediately began training and joined a Real Estate firm, where she became a working mom and a Real Estate agent.
Norma eventually returned with her family to San Diego where they built their home in Lakeside, Calif. This is where she lived the remaining years of her life.
Norma had the ability to make individual family members feel loved. Each of us believing we were “Extra Special.” As it turns out, we were all special in her heart.
Norma is survived by her children, Kathleen (Chapa) Silva, Roland (Bobby) Camacho, Daniel Camacho, Delia Pinones, 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Norma will be missed and loved for eternity.
