Patricia Lee Gompf

Patricia Lee Gompf, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on May 25, 2024, in San Diego, CA, just one day shy of her 81st birthday. She was born on May 26, 1943, in Virginia, to proud parents James Bedford Pressley and Alma Ruth Pressley. Patricia was known for her loving, generous, and kind nature, traits that endeared her to all who knew her.

Having met her soulmate Charles Marshall Gompf at Parkway Bowling Alley, the couple married on May 5, 1973, and shared a beautiful union that lasted 51 years. Together, they raised three children: Michell, Billy, and Charles. Her family was her greatest joy, and she dedicated herself to their happiness and well-being.

Patricia's love extended to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kia, Jacob, Zane, and Hailey, who brought immense joy and fulfillment to her life. She was a pillar of strength and support for her family, always ready with a kind word or a warm embrace in times of need.

In her professional life, Patricia worked diligently for 40 years at SDSU, where she excelled in clerical work. Her dedication and work ethic were unmatched, earning her the respect and admiration of colleagues and superiors alike. She took great pride in her career and the contributions she made to the institution.

Outside of work, Patricia was a longtime member of the quilting guild, where she cultivated friendships and shared her passion for quilting, sewing, and seamstress work. Royal blue and pink were her favorite colors, reflecting her vibrant and colorful personality.

Patricia's roots in San Diego ran deep, with her father's naval service bringing her family to the city in the early 1950s. She embraced the community wholeheartedly, forging lasting connections and leaving a positive impact wherever she went.

She is survived by her loving husband, Charles Marshall Gompf, her children Michell, Billy, and Charles, her grandchildren and great-grandchild, and her sisters Donna and Theresa. Patricia's memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
