Randy was a good man. He and I were friend in our teenage years. And briefly later on. I lost contact with him over the years. Looked for him on Facebook and that lead me here. Rest easy friend.

Although I didn't know Randy very long, I considered him favorite neighbor.   I wish I knew him in his youth as he and I would have gotten along really well, and become good friends. Im sure we would have fished together, hunted together, and maybe attended a concert or two. Myself and my cat Cooper will miss him.  Rest in peace Randy, and here's to good fishing in heaven buddy.

To Randy’s family—-
I became friends with Randy probably 20 years ago on a Skynyrd message board.  SOCAL as he was known.  I don’t even remember how we came to talk on the phone a lot over the next several years, but I’ve always said he was the best friend I’ve ever had that I’d never laid eyes on. He was 4star quality human.   I’m from Tennessee.  He would say he was more Southern than I was according to the latitude lines.  We never got to attend any of the same Skynyrd shows.   He was always a great listener, advice giver, funny, fierce and kind.  He always talked about Courtney with love and pride.  Skynyrd concerts and the people from the message board/fan club were fun for us to connect over and share the “dirt” lol.  I will never forget his voice and laugh. We had drifted apart in communication for the last 10 years as I was dealing with family deaths, weddings, births. I didn’t go to Skynyrd shows anymore and see the “frynds”.  I had sent him a message at New Years 2023.  He replied briefly.  I tried to send birthday wishes every year. He wasn’t one to want to be made over if sick or birthday rolled around.  I’m sorry he had a rough go of it lately and I hope he knew how much he was revered and appreciated as my friend.  May our Lord help you each day as you go into a different phase of life without Randy.

I met Randy through Diane when he came to our Church, El Cajon Wesleyan.  He was a loving, passionate man. He really loved our Pastor Steve Forsyth. He contributed in many church events as much as he could with his illness.  You will be missed Randy, but I know your with the Lord Jesus Christ and you are at peace now.

Well, Randy, we spoke of this and we expressed our opinions of what we felt Heaven would be. We agreed completely on one thing - that our kitties who passed before us would be there waiting for us. 
We chatted or texted so often and I’ve saved all of your text and phone messages. Who is going to instruct me now in the care of my plants, repairing things in my home, food prep (although we never got to bring our Pho recipe to perfection), or the best place to purchase lau lau. 
You texted me this from the hospital:  “I was just sitting here thinking of all the things I’ve done like meeting the guys and Skynyrd. I did all right. I mean do we ever get to clear everything off our bucket list before the time comes?”
I miss you so much my dear boy! Say hello to all the  family!  I love you ❤️

I was fortunate enough to meet Randy through our Skynyrd family.  He was so kind and passionate about the things and people he loved.  I was blessed to see he and Diane get married.  He truly touched my heart.  Until we see each other again my friend.

Randy had a zest for life that wouldn't quit.  He believed in some things so fiercely and loved other things as deeply.  He loved his daughter, Courtney and his grandchildren, his cats and of course-the Southern Rock guys Lynyrd Skynyrd.  Pet our kitties that had to leave us.  Tell them I loved them so much.
Say hello to Hughie, Boss Ross, and everyone for me.  Rest with the angels honey.  You fought so hard this year, it was just time.

Randy was bigger then life it's self. He definitely never backed down for what he believed in and was extremely passionate about it. He had a twinkle in his eyes when he smiled and a laugh you could never forget. A wonderful father to our daughter Courtney. Always there when she needed him the most and will continue to be in spirit.

I met Randy through the Lynyrd Skynyrd board.  We were married on December 15, 2007 in Vegas.  Our honeymoon was a Skynyrd show with everyone on board.  It was nice.  
16 years we spent together.  The last few were not so good as he was failing healthwise by the day.  I can say tho, with every confidence, that his passing was so peaceful that I didn't even know it had happened.  
He leaves behind me, his daughter Courtney, her husband Teddy, and 2 grandchildren-Jacob and Sienna.  
Rest in Peace honey.  I know you're probably having a great time with all the Skynyrd boys that passed before you, and your loved family members.

I have known Randy for the majority of both my and his life. I relied on him for advice on plumbing, pest control, and life in general. His father Gene was my close friend and ex brother-in-law, making Randy my nephew. Randy enjoyed shooting and he and I took a class together years ago at the Police Range. We spent time together at the range with his father as well. He was a consummate fisherman, a fish whisperer. He could cook, not just barbeque, but making preserves. Roasted chilies was a specialty. His memory was just phenomenal. He could link together facts from articles and his ability to research the internet was considerable. His staunch conservative discussions on social media belied that he did not have an advanced education. He was self-taught and extremely intelligent. Music was one of his passions, a follower of Southern Rock. He personally knew and spent time with members of the band Lynyrd Skynyrd. Randy was also a distant cousin of Buddy Holly. Music was in his soul.
