

Dick was born and raised in Malden, MA, the son of the late Vincent R. Cersosimo and Mary E. Cersosimo (Wilder). After his graduation from Malden High School, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served for 20 years, retiring in 1977 as a Yeoman Chief Petty Officer.
After his retirement from the Navy, Dick and his family moved to Bristol, RI, and eventually relocated to California in 1980. He enjoyed a long career working in the Administrative field after moving to California and finally retired after working many years for San Diego Hospice.
He was the husband of the late Claudia Lee Cersosimo (Willard), with whom he enjoyed nearly 62 years of marriage.
A dedicated family man, Dick enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Dick is survived by his brother Robert J. Cersosimo (Jeannie), daughters Natalie M. Smith and Patricia A. Xavier (John), son Richard M. Cersosimo, Jr. (Katie), grandchildren Michele L. Xavier, Victoria M. Bongiovanni, Brittany A. Xavier, Anthony J. Smith (Rebecca), Vincent A. Cersosimo, and Isabella M. Cersosimo, and great-grandchildren Roanin J. Bongiovanni and Reese M. Bongiovanni.
He is preceded in death by his wife Claudia, sister Julia E. Trickett of MA, and brother Joseph V. Cersosimo of CO.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A visitation for Richard will be held Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:15 PM at El Cajon Mortuary and Cremation Service, 684 South Mollison Ave., El Cajon, CA 92020. Following the visitation will be a committal service from 1:15 PM to 1:45 PM at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr, San Diego, CA 92122.
