Robert "Bob" Marlow, affectionately known to his grandchildren as “Grumpy Grandpa,” passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, in El Cajon, California, at the age of 77. Born on November 9, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, Bob lived a full and meaningful life centered around family, service, and friendship.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and remained a dedicated member of the veteran community throughout his life. He was actively involved with the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), AMVETS, and the Elks always ready to lend a hand or share a story with fellow veterans.
Bob's greatest pride and joy was his family. Sunday dinners at home, camping trips, traveling, golfing, cooking, entertaining, and sharing good wine were among his favorite pastimes. His home was often filled with the smell of a home-cooked meal, with family and friends laughing as they clinked shot glasses filled with tequila on the patio.
Bob is survived by his wife, Colleen Marlow, and his sons: Matthew, Gregory, Christopher (Maria), and Stevan (Valeriia) Marlow. He was a proud grandfather to Andrea, Jacob, Alyssa, Bradley, Kylie, Seayana, Ian, Sophia, and AJ, and a great-grandfather to Wyatt. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Marlow, sister, Pat Coatti, and three nieces.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, William and Muriel Marlow.
Known for his loyalty, humor, and deep love for those closest to him, Bob leaves behind a legacy of strength, warmth, and unforgettable memories. He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 21, 2026.
